VIRGIN COCONUT OIL AT HOME

You can make your own virgin coconut oil at home. You do not have to buy those branded virgin coconut oils in the shops because it is very easy to make and very cheap. A few mature coconuts will yield so much VCO (virgin coconut oil) that will be good enough to last a family's use for several months. With the many benefits we can get from vco, it is really practical to make it at home.

The following procedure is what I follow every time I make VCO at home.

Materials:

10 mature coconuts
 coconut water

gallon jar with cover

Purchase mature coconuts from the wet market and ask your vendor to grate them for you. Ask him the water from the coconuts.

Soak the grated mature coconuts in the coconut water for one hour. Press with your hands and squeeze out the juice. Strain the pressed juice with a clean cheese cloth in a clean gallon container. Repeat the procedure until you think you have pressed all the juice out from the shredded coconut meats.

Let the extracted coconut juice stay for twenty four hours at room temperature in the gallon container with cover. The mixture will ferment within the hours and this time the oil separates from the water.

Scoop out this clear oil from the top leaving the white portion and water below it. This clear oil  is  now your virgin coconut oil. For the white part, you can also scoop it out from the water which you throw out. You can heat the white liquid in  a very low fire to extract the oil  when you see the solids forming , but this is not the same as your first harvest which is the virgin coconut oil which has not been heated. You also strain the heated oil in clean cheese cloth to get all the rendered oil.

I have many uses for these oils specially for my hair and scalp care. It removes dandruff, makes my hair black and after a couple of weeks you will see hair growth. It also helps improve my skin better than lotions which I am not fond of for they are so sticky for me. The oil seems to heal minor skin rashes, insect bites and skin dryness. It can also be used as a massage oil, lip balm or skin moisturizer.

I can use the heated oil for massaging my aching joints, it is very useful and effective, it seems to relax the joint muscles. The heated oil can also be used again to massage scalp before shampoo and very effective in fighting dandruff.

Knowing I have a stock of vco at home and some heated oil, it makes me feel secured with regards to easy solution to everyday health concerns like burns, insect bites, sore muscles, etc.

I gathered from some health news that virgin coconut oil strengthens the immune system, fights viruses, bacteria and parasites.

I am an overweight female and the good news is that virgin coconut oil is helpful for a weight loss diet. Studies were done and still being done that virgin coconut oil can help one lose up to thirty six pounds a year if one substitutes virgin coconut oil with other oils in his diet. I would like to do that and see for myself if it is true. I will post here when something like that happens.

In the meantime, in my search for useful things to do in the internet, I joined Amazon.com Associate Program
which looks very promising with regard to getting jobs online. shop at Amazon.com!
